What are data breaches?

Data Breaches are intentional or unintentional releases of secure or confidential files or data to a cybercriminal, hacker, or any other untrusted environment.

  • Financial Data Being Stolen or Sold

  • Phishing

  • Malware

Businesses and Government Organizations are at a larger risk for Data Breaches but Personal attacks are not exempt just less likely.

How can you protect yourself from data breaches?

Prevention

  • Do Not give out personal data or information, unless it is necessary.

  • Change passwords often.

  • Use a password generator to ensure security.

  • Use two-factor authenticators on secure sites and data.

  • Any cloud data should be encrypted.

  • Perform regular backups on a separate system to external hardware or the cloud.

Protect: The password generator link or resource would be nice. I know we talked about it and tested it.

Pay attention to email or letters in regards to data breaches.

Like a summary at the end of Protect, kinda like you did, in against you.
